It is not only necessary to give appropriate training to new employees, but also to seek to develop existing employees as opportunities for promotion develop within a growing business.

Nor are the top management immune from the benefits of ongoing training, including from the very top of the tree downwards. As businesses develop and grow, founders of businesses need to learn how to adopt a different role, and to develop skills completely different from those needed to create a business in the first place. At various stages during the development of the business, those new skills have to be honed still further.

Equally, new or changing teams, differing economic circumstances, or changes in Line Management, amongst many other factors, can impact on the ability of People, both to optimise their own performance, and maximise the company performance.
